house as a journey

project description

This house is designed around landform, journey and light. The site is steep and with rear access it provides for a public journey from the street and a private journey from the rear lane.

The public journey up comes through rock ledges and gardens to arrive at a double height entry space with a stair as an event, views into the glass fronted pool and arrival at the upper level living space and views out to the harbour beyond. The private entry comes through a lush garden around the pool via a timber and glass logia linking the living spaces to the rear garden.

Light, form and texture play out in the interiors to create a subtle and calm quality throughout the home.
